The Shopping Trip
Walking several steps. behind her his eyes drifted down her legs, The glance, though quick, brought back a flash of memories..
Dark room, light leaking in the window, those legs again. Not a glance this time. Was it a game? We weren't alone. The smooth shape and flexed taut skin faded off into the shadows.
The memory, undeniably charged with a drug fueled chaotic primal energy, still contained a moment of silence. Just a flash of recognition.
“Meg?”
Meg turned back to face him. She followed his glance over to a pair of shoes on display. The mary jane’s had a high heel and a silver buckle with burgundy leather. Meg's eyes got big, then for just a second she looked confused.
He stopped, looked back over to the shoes. “Why don’t you try them on?”
“He’s waiting on me, you know how he gets.”
The unspoken conversation between them carried on and apparently the shoes one because Meg walked over to the display and pulled a box in her size from underneath it.
Then with a grin she looked up and said, “You know these would look better with a skirt.”
“What happened to making him wait?” he teased.
Meg rolled her eyes and started to put the shoes back.
“Go ahead, get whatever you want.”
Grinning Meg went over to the clothes rack and walked past him with a skirt and a white shirt. Disappearing into the changing room she emerged looking like a poster from a 90’s emo band. He really didn’t know how she did that. A moment ago you might have mistaken her for someone’s mom. Now she was ready to kill.
Glancing at him she walked back over to the shoes and put them on. Standing up she turned around looking down at her shoes then as an after thought looked over towards where he was sitting.
He nodded slightly and she smiled. " Those legs" he said softly under his breath. Laughing at the strangeness of it all he got up.
“Ok we have to hurry.”
“Fine I’ll run back to the car and put the bags back. I’ll bring them over to your house later.”
Jogging back to the car he put the bags in the trunk and ran back to where Meg was standing.
The two exchanged looks and started walking to the far end of the street.
“ Why are we meeting him?” he asked.
She didn’t answer, she just gave him that look again.
Walking up to Sam, Meg smiled and half skipped over to him hugging him. He smiled and held his hand out to the man. “ I really appreciate you helping us out.”
He wanted to say he should thank Meg because she was the only reason I had to even think about him again.
“Yeah, I’m not going to be able to help next time”
Sam looked at Meg and she reached into her pocket and handed him a small bag. Sam grabbed it from her and disappeared into the bathroom.
Meg stood there waiting impatiently now.
“You know we could just leave him here. I doubt he would notice for a couple of days.”
He knew she was seriously considering it.
“ I have to get back to my kids and he’s my ride.”
“ I got it… Well when he gets out tell him I said bye. I’ll bring your clothes over when I come by to pick up tonight. You think he knows? “
“ I don’t think so I'm pretty sure he would have tried to rob one of us already.”
“ Oh so we should tell him? Seems like an easy way to get rid of him.”
Grinning Meg smacked him in the arm.
“ See ya Meg.”
Walking back to the car, the memories faded.
He was late.
